Hi there and great question! This lens is an AF-P type lens from Nikon. The "P" stands for pulse which is a motor design that allows for quieter AF during video shooting. While the D7000 was/is a great camera. However, due to its age, it is not compatible with AF-P type lenses from Nikon.
